MAGIC SHOW TURNED DISASTER
I enjoy showing magic tricks and bringing smile on people's face. However, it has not always been the case.
Last year around this time, I was invited for a lunch by my friend and his uncle named Dorji. As a token of gesture I decided to show them some magic tricks and planned to start with my favorite playing card trick, which goes like this:
"I ask my audience to select one playing card from the deck. Then the audience picks a card and puts it back in the deck. After which I magically reveal the card from my mouth. I do that by distracting the Audience and secretly putting the card in my mouth."
So, that day I grabbed my old pack of
playing cards and put it in the back pocket of my favorite Jean. Then, I headed to the restaurant where my friend has asked me to come. It was all set, to put up a wonderful magic show.
As I entered the restaurant they were already seated waiting for me, I could see our lunch on the table, ready to be served. My friend waved me in and I sat near my friend facing his uncle, Dorji.
I told my friend about my plan to entertain them through my magic trick. My friend was excited and told his uncle about it. However, uncle Dorji seemed not as keen as my friend, anyhow I decided to give it a go and started my card trick of which my friend already knows the secret.
I told his uncle to pick one card from the deck and put it back in, which he did. Then, I shuffled the card and with some of my magical hand movement and gentle air blow with my awesome breadth I started the art of misdirection. As soon as I knew uncle Dorji was distracted enough, I sneaked in his selected card into my mouth.
Now it's all about revealing his selected card from my mouth as if it came from my stomach. When I was about to reveal the card from my mouth uncle Dorji's phone rang:
"Tunug Tunug...Tunug Tunug" you know the legendary I phone ring tone.
He showed me his index finger with one eye closed and gestured to excuse him for just one minute. I nodded, as I could not speak since the selected card was already in my mouth.
I waited for uncle Dorji's phone to hang up. I waited... and waited.....but the phone call seemed to last for eternity. The card started dissolving in my mouth. My mouth filled with my saliva and partially dissolved card, I could no longer hold back so I turned slowly to my friend, he signaled me to take it out. His expression was like its okay bro that happens...
